  • We are only offering B level rides (15-18 mph) at this time.   A and C riders are welcome to join rides at their own pace and join the post ride social event.
  • You must be a member to register for a ride.  It is recommended that you login to register but it is not required.
  • Click General Information for additional background on rides.
  • Click on the Title of the event to see all information including the complete description, maps, etc.
  • To cancel a registration, login, then click Already registered, then click Cancel Registration.

    The Dove Mountain Ride...   Ride with GPS map


    MORE CHOICES!  Tom Gosnell will lead a more relaxed ride (same start time and place).   Basically, this ride will do the route mapped above, but skip the spur into Dove Mt., and hence much of the climbing. (Ride with GPS map)

    Ride to and through the scenic roads in Dove Mountain.   Head out south along La Canada, then Magee to Cortaro to Silverbell, then Coachline, Twin Peaks (across the I-10 overpass and Tangerine Rd).  Next it's up and over the hill on Dove Mt. with a stop for water and restrooms at the park at the very end of Dove Mt. road.   Return up and over Dove Mtn, then west along newly paved Moore Road and then south on La Canada Rd back to the start.

    This ride on Marsh Road takes in the historic Cienega Creek bridge, two train bridges, the Agua Verde Castle and a new stretch of pavement on old Sonoita Road.  It is delightful rolling out and back on a traffic-free roads with newer pavement.

    The Saddlebrooke "alternate" Ride...   Ride with GPS map

    This ride will go out to Saddlebrooke via our alternate route.  We'll take Naranja west to La Cholla, then go into Rancho Vistoso and Sun City via Moore/La Canada/Hidden Springs Roads back to Oracle Rd.  We'll proceed N to the usual stop in Catalina for water/restrooms (~15 miles in).  Then we'll skip the usual long hill into Saddlebrooke by taking Eaglecrest Rd to Edwin Rd instead. 

    Once in Saddlebrooke, we ride on smooth roads and then take an alternate route back - Lago del Oro Parkway to the hill at Schroeder Rd, then south onto Bowman & then west onto the light at Wilds back to Oracle Rd.  From there, it's back to Brueggers the usual way south via Oracle/Innovation/Tangerine.  Socialize after at Brueggers.

    Tangerine west to Twin Peaks, then the loop bikepath to Via Entrada.   Up Christie to the top and then down the Magee hill (that's the opposite of our usual), and then back to Brueggers' via Northern, OV country club and the bike path to Naranja.

      The Tombstone Event Ride..Ride with GPS map

      This ride takes in a loop from the historic town of Tombstone and allows us to visit the town after the ride.  starts in the historic Tombstone and rides to the East to the town of Elfrida.

      Tombstone was founded in 1891 during a silver mining boom and was named by prospector Ed Schieffelin after a solider told him he would only find his tombstone in the area. Until the sliver boom ended in the late 1880's, Tombstone was a bustling hub of mining, saloons, and vice, which attracted famous figures like the Earps and Doc Holiday.  Tombstone has become a historic tourist destination in recent years, celebrating events like the OK Corral.

      Starting in Oracle, this ride takes us to San Manuel, once the site of the largest copper mine in North America.  San Manuel was built in the 1950s by the Del E. Webb Construction Company to house workers for the San Manuel copper mine, mill, and smelter.

      The Kitt Peak Event Ride...   Ride with GPS map 

      Today we tackle the ascent of Kitt Peak, a 12-mile climb.  Kitt Peak is rated as the third hardest climb in Arizona and 130th in the US.   Meet at the 386 turnoff in the dirt parking lot.

      Socialize with a tailgate party after the ride.

      • The 12-mile climb averages 5.7%.  34% of the climb is between 0 and 5%,  60% is between 5 and 10%, and the steepest section is 8.7% (see below).

      This ride targets the 49er Country Club, the only club where Jack Nicklaus played competitively in Tucson (in 1963 and 1964) and also includes the McCartney Ranch, Reddington Pass, Woodland Road, and a rest stop at the desert oasis in Aqua Caliente Park.
