13th Annual Willcox Flyer Bike Ride

The 13th Annual Willcox Flyer Bike Ride is happening Saturday, August 30th, 2025. Riders depart at 7:00am.

    Event details and schedule

    Packet Pickup/Registration

Friday 4:00-7:00pm at Keeling Schaefer Vineyard Tasting Room (154 N Railroad Ave)

Saturday 6:00-6:45am at Railroad Ave Park (100 S Railroad Ave)

We are doing digital check in again this year. We can use your QR code or name. Make sure you leave with your Flyer Tee and Water Bottle!

    Roadway

Reminder that the road is still open to traffic.  Although traffic is minimal and there will be police escorts, we encourage you to ride safely and follow the rules of the road.  Please be mindful at aid stations and turnarounds. Also, the train still runs. Please be aware when crossing the track.

    Parking

There is plenty of street parking and a large dirt lot east of Railroad Ave park.  Be mindful of any restricted park areas as towing will be enforced if cars are blocking business gates/driveways.

    Aid Stations

The Aid Stations are fully stocked with GU and Skratch Lab goodies thanks to our friends at Sabino Cycles! Pickle Juice Power donated 6 Gallons of pickle juice!  Apple Annie's donated watermelon. Merit Foods donated bananas and oranges. Some other Friends of the Flyer who don't wish to be named donated all sorts of crackers, bars, etc.  We can assure you, you won't leave hungry!

    Finish Line

The Pain Institute of Southern Arizona is hosting our finish line this year!  Make sure to stop and grab Riverview Dairy chocolate milk, snacks, cold water, Apple Annie's watermelon.

    Starting Times

As always, we stagger the starts.  66 milers will leave right at 7am with the first police escort.  We give them a few minutes before releasing the 33 milers.  The 8 milers take off a few minutes. They are typically led by hometown Olympian, Mike Allen, our 89-year old Willcox favorite! As a reminder, this event is not timed and everyone is a winner! But it is still fun to watch the super-fast cyclists pretend they aren't racing!

    Sag Wagon

If you get out and realize you've taken on more than you can handle there are several Sag Wagons on the course!  One of the wagons is Brian at 520.289.1966 and he is happy to coordinate a pickup!   Another wagon is Daniel at 520.508.1879. Sabino Cycles will have a tune up tent set up at starting line and can help with last minute mechanical issues. Specialized Bike will also have a mechanic and can help with repairs. ROR will also be out on the course and have been known to hand over chocolate chip cookies.

    THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for coming out and supporting The Willcox Flyer!  Thank you to all of our sponsors and all of our volunteers!  Every dollar that we raise goes to Small Town, Big Dreams 501c3.  The BIG dream of Small Town, Big Dreams is that eventually every student that graduates from Willcox High School will have access to post-secondary education.  We currently have 23 students that we provide scholarship for - many of which are first generation advanced education members of their family!  This is all made possible because of this bike ride - Thank you!
